Socks, Socks and More Socks

Our First Fundraiser!

We are so excited to be partnering with We Help Two to begin our fundraising journey to help bring our sweet Ellie home! You might be asking, “Why did we choose this specific organization?” Well, first of all these socks are awesome! We received the sample pack and have all been wearing them…..super comfortable and great quality, plus fun designs! We also love what this company is doing for others. For every two packs of socks that are sold We Help Two will provide a pair of socks to donate to a local shelter. We have chosen to donate any socks we might get through this fundraiser to Mel Trotter Ministries in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Socks seem like such a simple thing, but to those that are homeless they provide protection from the elements, which makes them a high need item at shelters. We cannot wait to provide those seeking out resources through Mel Trotter some new, warm socks! The last reason we have chosen this partnership is because for every pack sold we get 60% of the profits to go directly towards our adoption. We love that through this fundraiser you not only get to be a part of Ellie’s story, but you also get amazing socks. And who doesn’t need socks!

Now, we’re not going to lie, fundraising is kind of awkward. This is an area that has been a little bit of a struggle as it seems strange asking people for money. But here is something we have come to realize. International adoption is expensive. More expensive then we could have ever imagined, which is why when God first placed this on our hearts we closed the door to international adoption. It is unfortunate that this keeps some really amazing people from taking steps towards adoption. When we came to the conclusion that we were going to do this, be all in, we knew this was God’s plan for us. We also had complete faith that God would provide whatever was needed to make this happen. Now, we continue to have faith that God will provide the way, but it still doesn’t mean we sit comfortably each time a fee is posted to our account. The questions still looms and we continue to wonder how this will all work out. So we pray, we humble ourselves before God and remind ourselves that we are not simply asking people for money. We are in reality asking them to be a part of this journey, to be a part of bringing Ellie home, a part of her story. Through this awkward, yet amazing, process of fundraising we are seeing God’s hand guiding our path as he always has and always will. We get to see how He provides even in our doubting. What an amazing thing to be a part of!!
